The village of Karang Bayan is not as popular as other tourist villages. Yet it offers the beauty of nature and traditional life to behold.

The village below these hills is located in Lingsar District which can be reached in 10 minutes by car from Cakranegara. This fertile area is the source of the Kayangan springs and the Ancient Pancor. They are the source of water for the villagers. To reach both springs, you must walk about 30 minutes from the village settlement. Along the way, you can feel the fresh tropical forest atmosphere. You can hear the various humming birds and the rush of river water, you can see some tropical fruits hanging on the trunk and amazed by the friendly villagers walking while carrying dry wood or harvest on their head and shoulders.

In addition to soft trekking around the hill, you can also visit some of the historic buildings in this place.

Historically, Karang Bayan is one of the areas colonized by Karang Asem Raya. It is also known as one of the belief areas of Islam Time Telu. According to the elders in this village, they believe that their ancestors came from Bayan, one of the subdistricts in the northern part of Lombok which is the center of the belief of Islam Time Telu. This assumption is reinforced by the same Sasak dialect used in Karang Bayan and Bayan, with the similarity of the name of this village and the resemblance of the historic building form still standing in the middle of the village.

There are 4 fixed traditional buildings namely Bale Adat, Sekenem, Bangaran and Masjid. In the past, Bale Adat was used as a gathering place where villagers discussed their social activities. Now this place is inhabited by the 5th generation of the village head. Bale Adat only consists of one room and terrace. In front of this house, there is Sekenem. Sekenem is the living room. In a moment, there are berugaq where guests can rest.

Behind the Indigenous Bale stands Bangaran. Bangaran is a monument that symbolizes the first stone laid when first ancestors of Karang Bayan built this village. Bangaran comes from the word "Bangar". This means to do deforestation. Just a few steps south of Bale Adat, the deserted mosque still stands and is encircled by the bamboo fence. This architecture is most similar to the Beleq Mosque in Bayan, North Lombok. In front of the mosque, there is the rest of the building. It is a kitchen that is used as a place of preparation before entering the mosque.

Islam Telu time is strongly influenced by Balinese culture. This is explicitly illustrated in some traditions performed by the people of Karang Bayan namely Kikiran. The mind is a metatah in Bali-a tradition that aims for a pure human body with their teeth flatting. In addition, the harmonious relationship between Bali and Sasak Islam Telu Time can be seen in a tradition called Pijian. The Pajian is a thank-you note given to Hindust from Sasak Karang Bayan to attend certain events. The garden consists of rice fields, seasonings and coconuts. Generally, it's given when Sasak Karang Bayan sends their invitations.

Karang Bayan is a village which is one of the villages that has acculturation of Hindu culture that still strong in Lombok, because in the old days the king of Karang Asem Bali once controlled the village, where the people are embraced Islam and some of them still embrace watu telu. Coral Bayan itself is a village whose belief is the teachings of Islamic religious leaders in Bayan, KLU.
No doubt in terms of language and architecture of ancient mosques heritage, almost has in common with the ancient Mosque Bayan in KLU. Apart from that, the village of Karang Bayan itself has a custom that can not be separated from Hindu culture in general. Among the Hindu custom is Pijian and Kikiran.

1. Pancian
Pijian is a custom of the community in the village of Karang Bayan giving a gift from the family (Muslim) to the family (hindu) in Karang Bayan, this is one way to invite family (hindu) to come to the event that one family (Muslim) will hold in The village. Usually this Pijian di antar at 2 days before the event begins. Events such as nyongkolan (wedding procession) is a moment in which this pijian is offered. While the pancian itself contains 2 pieces of coconut, 2 eggs, oil and spices.

2. Thoughts
Mind is one of the customary procession to flatten the teeth by using certain tools. Usually this custom procession is called ngosokan in indigenous coral parrots. Ngosokan itself is usually an event that is coupled to the way rowah or gawe beleq in the village of Karang bayan.

So the acculturation of Hindu culture and custom is still very thick in Lombok and this proves that religious tolerance is very strong. Even mutually give their own appreciation of the traditional event that is done.
